What’s the difference between a conservatory and an orangery?

Traditionally a conservatory has a glass structure and a pitched glazed roof, and an orangery is a brick structure that features large windows and a lantern. However, the styles have blended over the years and it can be hard to identify what type of extension you want. Due to innovations within the glazing industry, conservatories can now have tiled roofs and roof lanterns, and orangeries can be designed to feature more glazing.
